This family adventure in the snow is probably my favourite session of all time to date! The perfect golden light, warm earth tones and a playful family in the snow!
Our original location was supposed to be Heber Down Conservation Area, in Whitby. Low and behold, upon arriving 15 minutes before the session was to begin, I found the area had been CLOSED for the season!!!! I suppose that’s the downfall to the first snow of the season! So, we had to improvise. Luckily, the area right along Country Lane is just beautiful.

A little weary at first, this handsome little man warmed right up thanks to his relaxed and playful parents.

As everyone knows, snow in the GTA can be unpredictable. This mama wanted snow for her family photo session, so when the first snow fall of the winter came, we rushed out a week earlier than planned! It was a good thing too, as all had melted by the next weekend!

One has to be creative when convincing children to cooperate for their photo sessions. In this case, Mommy was “sad” and to make her feel better, this little guy brought Mommy a “flower”, resulting in some of my favourite images of the session!
At Willow + Ivy Photography, I love to go off the beaten path, to find that perfect spot in nature for a quaint family adventure. Luckily there are so many beautiful spots right here locally, in Durham Region.
Lifestyle photography is all about that connection between you and your loved ones. This family was so relaxed and playful, that the candid and authentic images captured at their session are some of my all time favourites!
Of course, I love a traditional portrait too! Look at that cuteness.
